2Profit on a typical sale

Your margin rather than the sale price. An approximate figure is sufficient.

3Monthly contact volume

Calls, emails, chats and forms together. Your real number if you have it, a rough one if you do not.

Delivery cost, opening hours, order status
Include staff, systems and overhead. Capacity is not automatically a cash saving.
Share of basic questions that clearer information or self-service could prevent.
Revenue less variable delivery costs, as a percentage of revenue.
Share linked to a potential purchase; repeat contacts may be the same buyer.
Share of prospects assumed to buy elsewhere. Allow for repeat contacts from the same buyer.
Used for the time breakdown; does not change money results.

Combined annual scenario estimate
Two different effects; not a guaranteed saving.
How the figures are calculated

Potentially avoidable contacts = monthly contacts × basic-question share × avoidable share.

Annual handling capacity = avoidable contacts × cost per contact × 12.

Potential annual sales contribution = avoidable contacts × prospect share × assumed lost-sale share × value per sale × contribution margin × 12.

The combined estimate adds two different effects. They may overlap in practice, and implementation costs are excluded. Validate each separately before making a business case.

Time uses your handling minutes, 8 hours per person-day, 21.7 working days per month and 52 weeks per year. The daily input uses 30 calendar days per month. Person-days describe workload, not jobs or guaranteed staffing reductions.

Amounts before K/M/B abbreviation are also available by hovering over a result. Starting currency conversions use fixed illustrative rates, not live market rates. Currency changes convert both money inputs; check them against your actual local costs.

Where the value sits

Where could an improvement help?

Start with evidence

Answer repeat questions

Use contact reasons and search data to find missing or unclear answers.

Measure
Repeat contact rate
Compare with your baseline.
Then test self service

Make tasks easier to finish

Check whether customers can track progress, make changes and resolve errors.

Measure
Self service completion
Track completion after changes.
Then test handoffs

Keep context at handoffs

Check whether teams and channels retain what the customer has already shared.

Measure
Handoff failure rate
Check where context is lost.

Use these priorities to guide an assessment. Actions, timing and outcomes depend on your evidence.

Get a free five-question website review

We’ll identify five customer questions or information gaps on your public website and send a one-page review with evidence. Contact frequency and financial impact need your internal data.

We use your details to send the review. Updates are optional. Timing is confirmed by email.

Outside In Experience Review — from US$6,500 for a full customer journey.

Scope, timing and fees are agreed before work. Reassessment only if included in the proposal.

Illustrative estimates, not measured losses or guaranteed savings. Handling and sales effects may overlap; implementation costs are excluded. See assumptions and calculations.
